From a young age, I have had a passion for art and design. I knew I wanted an artistic career, so I studied at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. I initially majored in Fashion Design, and through FIDM’s Fashion Design major I was able to broaden my sewing skills, experience and techniques while learning digital and technical design via Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I also learned pattern making and pattern grading, first by hand then digitally though Gerber technology.
Wanting to further my knowledge of the industry, I applied and was accepted into FIDM’s International Manufacturing & Product Development (IMPD) 3rd year advanced program. This program selects a handful of students for a rigorous 9 month course that applies real industry experience with education. During the IMPD program, students work with established companies to perfect the “concept to consumer” skills the industry utilizes. Having obtained my IMPD degree, my skillset now includes extensive knowledge of product development, management, sourcing, costing and execution.
